A Little Update

It seems that when I'm the most stressed out, I need to sit down and sketch. Thats my coping mechanism, I guess. But then it drives me nuts, because as soon as my sketch is done, I want to color it in, but I see that so much more needs to be packed up and cleaned so I just file my picture away. My uncolored sketch pile is huge. I can't wait for all of this moving business to be over!!

Here is a little update. We were able to get all the paperwork finished for having someone take over our lease which was my biggest worry of all. Phew, I'm glad that is done.

We didn't get the house we wanted to rent in Abilene. They say someone had turned in an application before us, but I think it must have been a friend of theirs, because we turned in our application only a few hours after the house went up for rent, and the guy who showed us the house seemed positive we would get it. How annoying.

We are still homeless, as we haven't been able to find a house or apartment to rent yet. Abilene is a very small city and it seems that every apartment complex is full! Will starts work tomorrow, so he is going to be leaving me and the girls to fend for ourselves in Austin while he lives it up bachelor-style with his friend from work for two weeks. Lucky him.

And lucky for us, the girl taking over our lease doesn't need to move in until July, so she is happy to have me and the girls stay while we look for a place to live. We will be paying her for the days we are there, of course, but at least we aren't going to be turned out to live on the streets. Actually, we'd just move in with my mom or grandparents, if it came to that, so really things wouldn't be so bad.

Here is my favorite sketch so far. A little peek at Miss Marie Antoinette and her gooey, delicious cupcake. My fingers are itching to color her in, but my pencils are packed already. I might just have to pop open that box one of these days, because I'm not sure I'll be able to stand it much longer.

Thanks for all of your encouragement and well wishes! It means more to me than you can ever know!

If you're gonna be there another couple of weeks, open the box and get the pencils! You'll feel much better with some coloring therapy. Love the new sketch!

I understand totally your situation. When we moved from Oklahoma to Maryland, my husband had to go to work about 6 weeks before Zach and I could go. We didn't have Lane yet, so I only had to take care of 1 kid, which is a million times easier than taking care of 2 by yourself 24/7. I had to sell our house and get everything packed (hired movers) and on to Maryland. It wasn't easy. Hang in there. I'm glad you at least have your family nearby while you're being a single mom. I'll pray that things are easy for you.

Yes! Break out the pencils!!!

So sorry to hear about the house. I'm sure you'll end up with something better, though. That house probably had a leaky roof or something. :)

I agree. The pencils have to come out. It sounds like that sketch folder gets larger on it's own without help from a pencil ban. SO sorry to hear all your moving woes. Some kinks do seem to be getting ironed out though. Hope you will be happy and settled, albeit in Abilene.

HOly carp. Is that you? You are GORGEOUS! I do not know why I imagined that you'd look like your drawings--a bit snooty and elaborately coifed. I'm a dip!!!

This totally happened to me a week ago. As soon as the house was posted for rent, I inquired about it. The landlord got my information, asked for references and everything. As soon as I sent her references (2 days after the house went up for rent), she said "Oh, someone else rented it". Um, hello? Please don't ask for references if you are renting it to someone else. I'm really glad she replied to my references RIGHT away instead of calling them first just to jerk me around.

Good luck :)
