Sometimes It Pays To Hoard

The other day I was sulking because I had the brilliant idea to make super adorable gift tag sets with colorful ribbon ties... but the only ribbon I had was some solid red grosgrain ribbon.

So I made these little sock monkey tags--

--which I love, but then I thought, "Okay those are cute, but I'm bored of solid red grosgrain ribbon already, and want something colorful with fun patterns."

I wanted something to make my tags all sorts of fabulous... but I had NOTHING.

{insert sulking here}

And then I had one of those A-ha! moments as I dug through my fabric stash. My tremendously huge fabric stash. The one that Will always sees in piles and bags and boxes and says, like a skipping record, "Are you ever going to use any of this stuff?"-- (okay, I should give him more credit than that... he is amazing when it comes not harassing me about my fabric hoarding tendencies too much)

So I pulled out some fabrics - colorful, patterned fabrics - and here are my latest tags which I might just become obsessed with because I love those fabric ribbons so much.

What do you think of my fabric ribbons?

Enjoy!

ooohhhh...pretty, pretty, pretty. I am way jealous of your fabric hoard, though I thoroughly admit to having zero sewing talent. I find myself lurking in the Etsy supplies for fabrics just to admire them. I'm a fabric stalker...how messed up is that??

So cute - great way to use up fabric too - I hate it when I have great supplies and can't think of what to do with them.

Brilliant! So much cuter than regular ribbon. And, I'm TOTALLY stealing that idea, too :)

I love your fabric ribbons!! I've been using some of my favorite old shirts that were either ripped or hopelessly stained and making ribbons out of them...I almost love the fabric ribbon look more than regular riibbons!
