I Like-y Boom Booms

So. Annelie has recently become obsessed with... my boom booms... or so she calls my boobs.

Why? I'm not sure. They truly aren't that spectacular (you can just take my word on that), but something about crawling inside my shirt, giving the maracas a shake and announcing for all the world to hear - despite my objection and humiliation - "I LIKE-Y BOOM BOOMS!" really floats her 2-year-old boat.

What the heck is up with kids and their boob obsessions?

I know I'm not the only mom out there who has become unwillingly exposed in public due to an easily excitable kid pulling down the front of her top. I have completely crossed scoop-necked t-shirts off the list of "Shirts That Are Acceptable To Wear While Having Kids" - you know, along with anything silk, or that costs over $15, or that isn't on sale, marked down by about 90%.

And of course it doesn't help in the least that Will thinks it is very, very funny.

I think the most embarrassing thing was when I discovered (this was before scoop necks were crossed off the list - Gracie was just a baby then) that I was flashing my... boom booms... to all the dads at Gracie's music class whenever I leaned over to pick her up. Will was the one who pointed it out to me (after he let me unknowingly flash him and everyone else at the park for an entire afternoon one day).

He thought it was hilarious. I was mortified and wouldn't show my face ever again, leaving Will to be the one to take her to class for the rest of the month.

Seasoned moms out there, please reassure me that the boob obsessions/flashing in public will one day stop. I beg of you, please! Because while I enjoy being a girl and having boom booms, I'd really like to keep them to myself and I need a shred of hope to hold on to, that this can one day happen!

xoxo,

I'm probably in the same boat...or worse...so I have no solace to offer! Amelia was obsessed with poking at mine when I was nursing Merrick. After that was all done, they lost their mystique for her. Merrick isn't overly interested in them per se now that he is long ago weaned...but he has this super annoying habit of sticking his arm down my shirt and using it as a sling. Time and place is of no matter to him either. At least you are smarter than me...never dawned on me not to wear scoop or V necks....DER!

hahaha Brayden was kinda obesessed with my "boom booms" too when he was little. He used to run up to me and smack my chest and yell "Boobs!"

My daughter is the same way lately.

Funny true story. My friend went to the mall and was trying on swim suits. She brought her 3 kids in tow with her. Upon trying on the bathing suit her middle son screamed out, "I see NIPPLES!" Yep, total hilarious!! And yes, there were other people in the dressing rooms.

LOL! My six-year old son calls them my "lungs", as in, "Mommy, you have squishy lungs."

Haha! Love that button! Hang on to that hope that they'll grow out of it soon...

Your Will is a Scamp for not telling you about your unwitting "exposure"!

I'm not a mom but this made me laugh so much! My nephew used to be obsessed with mine...he'd just stare and stare and stare.

(I love that big sexy brains button!)

LOL - My girl is finally over the wanting to share them with everyone, but now she wants some for here self. LOL.
And momma's are not the only ones exposing themselves when they bend over. There are just some shirts that should come with a warning label, at least.

Marisa, I feel your pain. Ethan will come up to me and demand loudly "want boobie". Lack of compliance is followed up with louder demands and attempts to get at them on his own. Corwin totally cracked up on the couch the other day. He looked over while I was still messing with my shirt and Ethan was sitting on my lap, tight up against my chest with his mouth perfectly positioned and ready to pounce as soon as the intervening garments were out of the way. I was hoping that being apart for a week while I drove my car up to Tahoe would be the end of it, but no. On the plus side, Gabriel is over the obsession and has been for years. He totally gave up nursing when he was 8 months younger than Ethan is now, and he never asked for it by name.
