Here's Lookin' At You, Kid!

Today Gracie is four years old.

I'm kind of in shock here. Three other birthdays (not to mention the actual, birth-day) have come and gone, but none have hit me as hard as this one.

Four just sounds old for a tiny little baby, don't you think?

Of course I know that Gracie isn't a baby anymore... she makes sure to tell me on a regular basis. The other day, I asked her why she doesn't call me 'Mommy' anymore, opting for the more mature sounding 'Mom.'

She rolled her big blue eyes like, give me a break, Mom, and said, with her hands on her hips, "Only babies say 'Mommy' and I am not a baby."

No, a baby she is not, though I'm really not ready to accept that. She's more than happy to grow up on me. She's been 3 going on 13 for the last year now, having been an independent and spirited young thing since birth. And though I'd love to pat her head and call her baby forever, I can't help but lend a hand as she grows up.

I am her Mommy, after all.

So here's a big Happy Birthday to You, little girl. May your days be filled with sunshine and happiness, laughter and lollipops...

And plenty of balloons.

xoxo,
Mommy

Happy Birthday Gracie! I look back and it's hard for me to remember baby Amelia. It's like she's always been exactly how she is right now. I look back at her baby pics and think "who is that kid?". Hope you are all having fun with all of those balloons!

Happy Birtday Gracie :)

4 is a fabulous age, enjoy it Momma, because before you know it you'll be standing at the bus stop bawling your eyes out when she heads off to school

Haha. I remember the days when Gracie was craving bacon and mayonnaise sandwiches, or maybe you were and just blaming it on the pregnancy. Either way, it was weird, funny, and gross but I made it for you anyway :)

Happy Birthday to Gracie!! Thomas also turns 4 this year, and I agree it sounds too old lol. Because he's a late August baby he won't go to "big school" until the year after next but I'm so dreading it! He's far too little to be going to school!!!

Your two babies eyes are so beautiful, eyes like this are not even seen in fashion magazines. Such a deep blues. Your family is so special.
My family have light blue eyes, from irish background. They are bright and clear.
I rarely see dark blues so beautiful.
Happy birthday! Hoped you had the greatest time!
