Up Close and Personal - aka My Life Story

MARISA: This is Your Life!

I was tagged by Holly aka Winklepots. (thanks a LOT, Holly)

But I'll be a good sport and tell you all sorts of trivial and insignificant information about me... hey, I pretty much do that everyday, any way!

What is your current obsession?
How am I even supposed to begin answering that? I'm a very obsessive person, so this question is kinda vague. But here are a couple of answers that might work: Colored pencils (specifically my Design Spectracolor pencils), cream pies (mmmmm....), Fettucine Alfredo (I have the best recipe. Send me an email if you want it. Seriously, its the best), Pandora Radio , and anything Regency (Captain Wentworth! *swoon!*), especially Jane Austen's Persuasion.

What are you wearing today?
A t-shirt and yoga pants. I don't actually do yoga, though. The pants are comfy.

Whats for dinner?
Beats the heck out of me.

What would you eat for your last meal?
My MIL promised that for my last meal she'd make her famous (to me, at least) Aubergine Bake which is an eggplant casserole so unbelievably good, I can't even begin to describe it to you. I've made it a few times, but mine are never as good as Anne's.

What's the last thing you bought?
This original painting from The Dreamy Giraffe:

The one, the only.... FLOWERINA!

What are you listening to right now?

I'm listening to the most recent mix CD I made, titled, 'Marisa's Industrial Alternative Electronica Rock Pop Mix!'

It is filled with industrial, alternative, electronica, rock, and pop music (bet you didn't see that one coming). At the moment, the Scissor Sister's Comfortably Numb is on. I love that song.

What is your favorite ice-cream flavor?
Baskin Robbins' Gold Medal Ribbon. Yum. But if I'm anywhere other than BR, I always buy cookies and cream.

What do you think of the person who tagged you?
I think Holly is pretty darned awesome, but thats mostly flattering to me since she is my Doppleganger (ie: A double, an identical replica of a person. The idea behind this is that everyone has a Doppleganger, an identical copy of themselves somewhere in the world. If the person is good, then the Doppleganger will be evil and vice versa. It is even said that if the two should meet, then they will both perish) information taken from Unexplained-Myseries.com

Holly is the evil twin, in case you were wondering. Though we did meet when I flew to Portland to hang out with her in April. Neither one of us perished, but we did laugh a lot.

If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be?

I will take one of the apartments along The Royal Crescent, in Bath, England. I used to walk past The Royal Crescent on my way to school in the mornings back in my study abroad college days. Best way to start the morning, I'm telling you.

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?

I'd love to be drinking a cappuccino and eating a pastry along a canal in Venice, right about now. With my friend, Jenni. Without my kids.

Which language do you want to learn?
I'm trying (slowly) to learn French right now. I've been to Paris a few times and can't wait to take my girls there. Hopefully the next time I go, I'll actually be able to order my dinner without sounding like a complete idiot. At the moment, the only thing I can order properly is Croque Monsieur... and I hate Croque Monsieur.

What is your favorite quote?
There is always music amongst the trees in the garden, but our hearts must be very quiet to hear it.

-Minnie Aumonier

Isn't that dreamy and beautiful? That has been my favorite since I was little.

What is your favorite color?
Metallic dark silver. Always has been, always will be.

What is your favorite piece of clothing in your wardrobe?
My itsy bitsy, polka dot bikini. After going from a size 16 (thanks a lot, kids) (And Sonic bacon cheeseburgers) down to a small six, I wear my bikini proudly.

Plus, it is the only thing I own that shows off my tattoo. I love my tattoo.

What is your dream job?
I want to be a writer of young adult urban fantasy. That has been my dream job FOREVER. I'm nearly done with my first book, and it will hopefully end up as a trilogy. I have them all planned out, but we'll see if I get a publishing deal when I'm done with book one.

Cross your fingers for me, please!

If you could invent any useful invention, what would it be?
Holy heck, this is a long list of questions.

Okay, my answer would be... um... probably a machine that hooks up to my camera, scanner and computer, and uploads all of my pictures, then opens my editing software and edits them perfectly, then goes into my Etsy account and creates all of my listings for me. That would give me about 1/3 of my life back, I swear.

If you had $100 now, what would you spend it on?
MOHOP SANDALS! I want 'em!

Describe your personal style?
I wear skirts most of the time. I've very girly. But when I'm not wearing a skirt, I'm happy to be in jeans and a Winklepots t-shirt!

What is your favorite TV show?
Hard to decide on a favorite. I'll go with Lost. But that is followed very, very closely by Moonlight (cancelled after one season???!) The O.C (on DVD, obviously, as the show is over, now). and Gossip Girl.

Heehee, I got Will into all of them, too. He especially loves The O. C. and Gossip Girl.

What are you going to do after this?
Probably call Holly and shout at her for tagging me with such a long questionaire. Seriously. When is this thing going to end?

What are your favorite movies?
Becoming Jane, Pride and Prejudice (2005 version), Love Actually, About a Boy, PS, I Love You, Ever After, My Best Friend's Wedding, When Harry Met Sally, Pretty in Pink. To name a few.

What's your favorite fruit?
Anything that fits on a cocktail stick drenched in rum and fruit juice.

If you could swap lives with someone famous, who would it be?
Absolutely no one. I do not want to be shown in magazines with my cellulite and bad hair days for all the world to see, thankyouverymuch.

Your favorite books?
Anything found in a library, pretty much.

Are you a home body or do you prefer to be out?
Home body. Sometimes I'm surprised to find that an entire week has gone by, with the only time I've stepped out of my apartment being to get the mail and to let the girls play outside.

Weird, I know.

Polka Dots or checks?
Polka dots are cuter and just scream, "look at us, we're fun!"
(BTW, I'm straight-up copying Holly's anwers now. This questionaire is getting too long for my attention span)

Favorite candy?
Snickers, Twix and anything made by Cadbury from England. Lindt truffles are awesome too!
(oh wait... copying Holly's answer doesn't work here. Much to Will's dismay, I hate Cadbury chocolate)

Do you collect something?
Grey hairs. Yeah, it's sort of a collection that found me, not the other way around.
(Ha! Holly's answer doesn't work here, either. No Grey hair for me. Hopefully never. My mom is in her 50's and doesn't have a single grey hair yet. Hopefully I take after her.)

I do collect mermaid stuff, from artwork, to ornaments. I don't display them, though. I guess I'm a closet mermaid collecter.

FINALLY! I'm done! And if you got this far, you deserve a certificate of completion. Here. You can print this one up, frame it, and hang it next to your desk to remind you always of your great achievement.

Ordinarily I wouldn't be cruel enough to tag anyone, but Mwa-ha-ha-hahahaha... I'm going to play mean right now and tag:

Marie - Life in Our Village
Amanda - Oh Mandie's Blog
KJ - The Adventures of KJ and the Dreamy Giraffe
Anne - Casserole Blog
Jean - Jean's Blog

The rules :
1. Respond and rework; answer the question on your blog and replace one question that you dislike with a question of your invention.
2. Tag five other people.

I chose not to follow the rules and replace a question with my own question. Yeah, I'm a rebel.

xoxo,

Seems as thought I don't know how to follow instructions (yet again)! I forgot to change a question.

Wow, see... I was going to choose the palace at Versailles as my place to live, but I thought it was a little too pretentious...after seeing your choice I see I wasn't ambitious enough. I'm dismayed that you don't have a healthy respect for Cadbury chocolate...and one of these days you will have to explain "urban fantasy" to me...as a lover of fantasy I'm obviously missing something important...

Being the evil twin, of course I tagged you because it's downright mean. And I personally don't want to suffer alone and misery loves company. :oP

I would love your fettucine alfredo recipe - my last attempt was awful! I like your strategy of copying Holly's answers, by the way!

Oh, and I'm going to need that fettuccini alfredo recipe :)

Wow, that was long but fun. Okay, I did have to stop in the middle when my hubby brought dinner home, but I still got the certificate!!!

You are a very interesting person! I'd love to have your recipe for fettucine alfredo, and if it's available, your MIL's eggplant casserole aka aubergine bake. I recently discovered that I LOVE eggplant.

I love the real chocolate here...i'm sure it's still not as good as english, but it's a heck of a lot better than american ...don't shoot me, remember I'm american, I just know a good thing when I find it :)
so enjoy your sense of humor
