I wanted to share this custom project with you all. Designing this bike-loving sock monkey in baby Alex's honor really moved me. I had to do the illustration twice because the first time around I actually cried while coloring the sock monkey in, and ruined my paper.
This illustration was created as a t-shirt design to be worn by the team of Alex's Angels, who will be riding in the Courage Classic bike race in Colorado this week. The Courage Classic race will be benefiting the Children's Hospital where baby Alex spent 1/5th of his life. You can read the story about Alex and his family in this newspaper article:

Good luck with the race, Alex's Angels! And I'm so lucky to have created a bright, cheerful illustration to help Alex's family honor his spirit.
Enjoy!

lovely, it's really cute! maybe the teary version can be an altered piece ;) thanks for sharing this!
I think it's fantsatic to have your illustration be a part of that effort. It is both terribly sad, yet inspirational to see parents carry on his memory. You did a great job
Thanks for this wonderful post on your blog Marisa -- I cried all over again as did Melisa. It was a gift to find you among the Etsy artists. You have created such a personal and wonderful piece for this family and they will always have it for their family and "team" to honor their little angel. Thanks for all your help! I hope to work with you again.
