Raking Leaves

As far as I'm concerned, the best thing about being a kid in the fall, is great big piles of crispy brown leaves, just begging to be jumped in.

Our pecan tree is officially leafless, and our front lawn is officially covered in piles and piles of leaves just waiting to be shoved in our compost bin. But in the meantime, welcome to the funnest place to play in all the land (or so my kids believe)

(don't mind my voice. Yes, I'm shrill, yes, I cackle like the Wicked Witch of the West, and yes, I'm overenthusiastic and have way too much fun watching my kids play in leaves... but that's just me)

What's your favorite part of the season?

xoxo,

Your tree dumped leaves on my car. I noticed as I was driving away. We don't have leaves here on base, we just have giant spiders and cactus. Eleanore had "super much fun" playing in the leaves, I'll never hear the end of it.

PS. Did I leave my ring on your counter?

Your kids are sooooo cute. You're going to be it trouble with a capital "T" when they get old enough to date! ;-)

(I've been told the same thing about my little guy -- I've also been told he stole all the pretty out of ME, but that person, I stepped on that person. Squashed 'em.)

Playing in leaves...YAY. Raking them...boo. Since we didn't buy a "wooded lot" we have no adult trees in our yard...and our three juvenile live oaks don't put out enough leaves to pile up. There are tons of leaves in the conservation land around us...just not in our yard...which, again, is fine with me so I don't have to rake :)

Fall makes me miss Massachusetts...and all of the really, really pretty leaves...raking and all.

on the last play date the Peanut and I went on, we left our friends apartment to collect leaves to decorate their house.

One giant bag later, while the adults were taping leaves to the windows, one of the kids dumped said bag onto the floor. The biggest and best indoor leaf pile I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing took place.

The are pictures to prove it took place but it took 45 minutes to pick up the leaves from the carpet and 3 vacuum bags to clean it all up. your leaf piles look just as fun and there's a lot less work involved cleaning up

Nothing beats the smell of the leaves when they are all piled up! And who has to be a kid? I still roll around in them as an adult!

Love how they crunch. We have a HUGE maple tree in our yard. Lots of crunchy leaves.
