I'm the kind of person who LOVES holidays. I love holiday-themed food. I love holiday-themed decorations - especially the obnoxious ones that light up and make sounds and are generally on Earth to annoy mankind.
And the holiday-themed craft opportunities! Heart - be still!
Boy oh boy, do I love the holidays.
Except lately, they always pass before I've had a chance to notice. And then I think, "Well, boo. I'll have to remind myself to actually glance at the calendar and see what the date is next year, since this year that didn't happen until it was too late."
If you're anything like me, you can imagine I forgot to remind myself. Lame.
Well, NOT THIS HOLIDAY, FOLKS!
Check it:
That's right - not even December and we've done Christmas cookies! Woo!
Now before you go thinking this is getting a head start, I'm just going to go ahead and say there is a huge possibility this is all I'll remember to do. But that's okay. Because if the kids are like, "But Mom, we didn't even decorate a Christmas tree, just like last year! And like how you forgot to buy us a pumpkin to carve until Halloween was long over!" I can show them this:
and not feel so bad. Because surely this counts - it's a decorated tree, a holiday-themed crafty project and holiday-themed food!
*dusts off hands*
(also, we go out of town to spend major holidays with family, so if I forget to have holiday cheer, we have back up)
Hope you all had an awesome November, everyone! Mine went by so fast I'm not sure what's going on right now. Between going out of town two weekends this month and finishing the last of the book I didn't finish in time to participate in NaNo (boooo) I feel like David after the dentist and often find myself wondering Is this real life?
I hope December is more relaxing!

Silly girl. You know "real life" is not the least bit "relaxing!" :-) I sit here still wondering where September, October AND November went! Glad you at least got some cookies done!
Hooooley Girl! You need to slow down! LOL! And the cookies totally count as decorating a tree! I'm right there with you though, it flies by in a blink. So don't sweat it, relax and go with the flow. The holidays are about family, love, and appreciating what you've got... and it sounds like you've got that down my friend! So HAPPY Holidays to you and yours! And send me some of them cookies! ;oP
damn those girls are cute :)
We've had a crazy November too and leave for an out of town wedding on 1st December - feel like Christmas is slipping away and I haven't done anything! Those cookies look awesome and your girls are just gorgeous!
We were all over the "get into Christmas" thing just as soon as Thanksgiving was over. Amelia wanted to make Santa his cookies already and I had to break it to her they would be beyond stale by Christmas :)
Soooo cute!!!!! from Etsy Blog Team www.sweet-fix.net
The holidays do pass by too quickly!
Awesome looking cookies!
My tree is decorated and up only because my kids begged me to and then they helped and did most of the work! Happy little elves.
Lovely cookies!
I admit, I've let holidays slide lately. And since my girls stopped believing in Santa, my motivation for decorating for Christmas dropped to zero.
But Daughter #2 wanted to start decorating over Thanksgiving break, so I gave her a box and let her go at it. I admit, it is cheerful to those items around the house!
December more relaxing? Right.
And I can't believe you have Christmas cookies!
But...our tree is up and decorated and we've been listening to Christmas music since before Thanksgiving. Shh. Don't tell.
Sounds like you're running around like the rest of us. This time of year can get a little crazy. This year I've been working more so I'm going "light" on my Holiday decorating...less to put up and less to take down!!
I hope your December proves to be slower paced for you. :-)
Chickadee, I just read one of your rundowns of Annalieisms in my blog reader. I was laughing so hard I got tears. "I found it...in my purse." When I tried to "like" it, it was gone. I sure hope you'll put it back. Those stories give me such nostalgia for when my girls were little. And pure joy that little brains such as Gracie's and Annalie's exist in this world. Love y'all.
