Yeah, okay, so today's blog post isn't quite the most exciting of blog posts, for you, my readers... but let me just shout out for a minute: WE BOUGHT A WASHER AND DRYER!
Clearly I'm excited. And you can probably tell by the above picture, that Annelie is excited, too. She seems to think that she has a new fort, which is fine by me as long as the door stays open.
Gracie has already experimented with shutting Annelie inside, though she can't reach the 'on' button, so all we get is a lot of metal banging, a two year old screaming, and a 3.5 year old temper tantrum as a result of an unwanted time-out..... but its worth all of that, because now WE HAVE A WASHER AND DRYER!
Will and I have been married over four years now, and have spent all of that time moving from apartment to apartment (7 times!).
In Austin, our apartment came with a washer/dryer, which was great... but since we've been in Abilene, we've had to make do with the community laundry room. Last week, it took me three hours to do one load of wash and dry, as I was doing battle with all of the other residents, a dog that I swear was on the verge of attacking me before he squatted down and peed on the laundry room floor, and a chain-smoking lady who felt the need to gripe about her life and kids to me, as she waved her cigarette in my face.
But not anymore, thanks to our tax refund...

I dread having to get a new one, but look forward to it at the same time.
Enjoy!

Ahhhh... It's the little things in life! Never thought you'd be excited about laundry did you???
A new washer and dryer are definitely two things worth getting excited over! Thank goodness you won't have to be exposed to the madness of the laundry room anymore! 3 hours to do a load is ridiculous!
WOOT WOOT!!!! Congrats!! I remember the first washer and dryer I bought....ahhhhh YAY!!! It's so nice not fighting/waiting with people to do your laundry.
YAY for tax refunds!!
Hooray!! There's nothing like having your own washer and dryer INSIDE where you live. :)
Congrats:)
yay! I still remember the aggravation of those college & apartment community laundry rooms. Glad you have the convenience of your own!
Hooray for refunds!! OH, how well do I remember apt bldg laundries. I've been in a house now for 25 years and I STILL hoard quarters!
Enjoy... now you can pop your clothes in the washer before you hop into bed, and they'll be done in the AM, and you don't have to worry that someone might have taken them (happened to me once).
Congrats...
Kate
No lie...I have a pic of my SweetPea from our apartment in Boston that looks just like that...well less the very amusing face :) We were very lucky to never have to do the community washer/dryer thing in 9+ years of apartment living. When we moved to Houston and rented a house I bought...dun dah dun...a high efficiency front loading washer/dryer set. If I weren't already married..I would have married them...I love them that much :)
I can feel your excitement. We share a laundry too. It makes it prohibitive to just through in a load of wash..I end up saving everything and then being tied to laundry one day a week..ugghhh. I am really excited for you..congratulations
Congrats! I love the picture... it's adorable!
Congratulations on the purchase! My wife and I purchased our combo washer dryer last year after receiving the 'economic stimulus' check from Uncle Sam. It's still quite gratifying to to be able to do our laundry whenever we want! I highly recommend the combos because of the small footprint.
That's wonderful! When we lived in Maryland, we lived in a high rise apartment and had to share laundry with the other tenants. I dreaded laundry day. I can totally share your excitement. You can go to Home Depot and buy stick on plastic locks that will make it very, very difficult for a kid to open the door to your dryer or whatever you stick the lock to. We used to have one on our oven after I found Zach on his hands and knees on the open oven door one time. He was about 18 months old then. We also had a similar lock on our toilet lid. Zach never had the chance to flush a toy train (like Lane did a few months ago). Too bad we can't lock down the potty now. I'm afraid Zach wouldn't be able to open it and he'd have an accident. Congrats again on the new washer and dryer!
OMG, you aren't gonna believe this, but I took a photo of my kid in our dryer about a week ago. Maybe I'll post it for wordless wed this week....too funny! but yay for having your own washer and dryer - once you have it, you can never go back!
congrats on the washer and dryer! that photo is so cute and funny :) But please be careful! Your girls are as inventive as my boys...I'm sure it won't take long to reach the on button!
That is the funniest photo - so cute! And congrats o nthe new machines... it's NO fun having to use communal ones, that's for sure!
YAY!!!!!! I lived for just a few years without this convenience and lemme tell you, my laundry tended to pile up way past where it should have. (I remember one time loading it into the back of my fiance-now-husband's pickup truck???)
I live in the uk and have a washing machime similar to this one and the best I have ever owned. About 6 years old and going strong.
Awesome machines!
Like the washing contents,lol!
Congrats - the photo brings back childhood memories. Once while playing hide and seek, I hid in the dryer. I was able to pop the door open from the inside to get out; so if the girls are playing hide and seek and Annelie is missing, you might want to check the dryer!

Oh I know the excitement all too well :)
Isn't it a great feeling? There is nothing like having your own washer and dryer especially when you have kids!!!
