Falling Off the NaNo Wagon

So... two days left of National Novel Writing Month. Did I hit my 50k, you may be wondering?

Well, hopefully you used your deductive reasoning and figured out, after reading my post title, that I failed.

Yup, that's right. I am a NaNo failure, once again. But WAIT! I don't feel too bad about it. And the reason: I wrote half my book!

I'm sure after being super pumped to hit my half way point, I should be super pumped to keep going, but honestly, I've lost my steam. My back is sore, my fingers bleeding (not really), my brain has popped (this is probably true). And though I still have two days left of November to write, and only about 14k words left before hitting my NaNo goal, I'm just too whiny tired to go on.

Not to mention, I've been having anxiety nightmares in which I'm in my character's shoes being hunted in a labyrinth underneath a crack house by Jack the Ripper and a minotaur.

But I did finish the first half my book, and I actually like it. No, wait - I actually LOVE it. And I can't wait to finish... as soon as I stop whining get some rest after writing like a maniac all month.

Happy winning to all you NaNo winners this year! And for the ones who are right there with me... well, good for you for writing something!

xoxo,

Who cares if you finished 50K words! To have half your novel written is incredible, and to actually like it, is even better! Congrats!

Oooo, good for you! I got to about 5k and life got in my way... and I didn't stop it. D'oh! But, like you said, it's about what you DID accomplish, not what we didn't, right?

Hmm, let's see, I was only about 48,000 words short, so, beat that! Half a book is half a book. AND you love what you wrote. Now that it's almost over and the pressure's off, maybe I'll finally start writing mine :)

The fact that you finished half your book in one month and love what you wrote is no small potatoes. Take a break and come back to it. You'll finish it, and it *will* be awesome!

Ooooh what type of keyboard do you have, that you fingers are bleeding?? hehe:)

Unless I had absolutely nothing else to do I would find it very difficult to write 50k in a month so I think the fact you wrote half your story in a month is pretty damn awesome. Congrats on your accomplishment :)

I'm telling you that book was coming out of you a full - fledged teenager - just about perfect. So you need a different than NaNo and plenty of breaks. There's no scratching this one! Mine on the other hand - pure practice (ie: every word of it soon to be trash). Way to go on the attitude!

I applaud you for finishing half your book. AND I applaud you for your honesty!

The greatest thing about it, is like what you said, you accomplished a lot in a month.

And it's like I tell my 4th graders when I make a goal for them to read 30 books. They may not reach that goal, but I bet they will have read more this year than any other year. :))
