After the realization that I have been depriving my darling sweet daughters of a brightly painted boutique chic bedroom (see here), I have been decorating up a storm. I love to decorate and having a room for two little princesses (and they are definitely princesses) has always been my dream!
A few months ago, Gracie and I were taking a walk though my mother's neighborhood. As I walked past one of my mom's neighbors, she asked if I had any use for a dresser. The dresser was handmade by her father and given to her 8 year old daughter, Avery, as a gift when she was born. For Avery's 8th birthday, they decided to redecorate her room... and decided to get rid of the dresser. They didn't want to just throw it out, and I happened to be walking by at the perfect time!
It makes me so sad that this dresser wasn't thought of as a handmade family heirloom! It is beautifully made and still in excellent condition after 8 years of use. I took one look at the (ghastly) lavender paint with white swirls, and knew I could revamp it into a fabulous focal point for Gracie and Annelie's room.
So, with a slap of paint and some scrapbook paper... Voila!
It packs a serious punch!

Awesome! you did a GREAT job! I love, love, love, love, love it!
wow! you sure gave that dresser a modern feel! i'm impressed! i agree that it is sad the previous owners didn't think of it as a family heirloom - i could never throw away something like that if it was personally made by a family member!
Talk about talented! What a lucky young lady! I would've given my right leg for such a cool room when I was young, lol.....and what a great mommy to do it for her! I like the "Elegant Bloggery"......too funny!!!

That looks AMAZING.: ) Beautifully done.
It pulls at my heart strings that they didn't appreciate it for what it was, but I'm glad it went to a home that will love it. : )
