Ho Ho Humbug

According to every commercial, store advertisement, shop decoration, song on the radio, movie on TV, et cetera, et cetera, I'm supposed to be slathered in holiday spirit right now. You know, like a glittery gingerbread cookie scented body lotion which is sort of how I imagine the holiday spirit. But to be honest, I've been going the bah humbug route this year.

I'm trying to be fun for the kids. We've bought some egg nog, watched a holiday parade, baked some cookies, read some holiday stories... but to be honest, I just want to hibernate until it's all over and the spring flowers are blooming and the sky isn't cold and gray anymore.

What about you? Are you slathered with holiday spirit? And if so, can you rub some of that off on me? Thanks!

xoxo,

Oh, I'm trying, but I'm not really there yet either. We have our tree up but no ornaments yet. Though at least it's finally cold here in Florida! At least for a week! Just put some rum in that eggnog and maybe that spirit will hit you. ;-)

So not slathered. Maybe because it's freezing. I hate winter. It's messy. And/or I have to work. Pick one.

Bah humbug. :)

well "slathered" sounds kind of dirty...but yes, I'm all about Christmas. Except for the weather...unless it's going to snow, it has no business being this cold in NC. In any case, maybe a good turkey stuffing will get you in the holiday spirit?
BWAHAHAHA!

We had a good start with it this year when we took the kids to see the Holiday Lights at Vasona in Los Gatos (remember that?). Then the ornaments on our tree started going missing, ... and, getting broken. The kids' punishment was to take them all down (which they actually enjoyed-- dammit!;-) ). So now we have a fake tree 1/2 strung with lights and no ornaments in the living room. I'm ready to move on too! HA!

very little holiday spirit here, I'm afraid :(

I'm broke and Christmas isn't as much fun if you can't buy - even tho that's NOT what it's about. I did however, spot a free tree out in the woods (technically it's on school property but honestly, they'll never know)and I think I'll feel happier once it's decorated and sparkly.

Celebrating Hanukkah here. And it's gone well. The kids have been grateful for all the socks and stocking caps they have received. But we will do Cjristmas with my family and I shall see if I can muster the energy for that.

Some years it's harder than others to get into the full swing of the "spirit"...I don't know what it is. This year I'm about 3/4 of the way there! Once I decorate my house (which it is now) that usually helps....unless I start thinking of having to take it all down again. Ick!

Maybe you should hop in the shower and slather up with some "Holiday" scented shower gel! Lol! ;-)

It takes me awhile to get in the mood. This month is packed with appointments and school functions in such a short amount of time, so I'm having a difficult time seeing past the stress of all that. But I'll be ready for it eventually. I always am!

Most of us on this side of the world dream of experiencing at least one white Christmas in our lifetime, but honestly I don't think any of us would trade a summer xmas! Sunshine just makes it all the more festive! the weather is throwing a spanner in the works this year though...let's hope Christmas day isn't rained out!

I'm just faking it this year. :) We've put up the decorations and I made a stack of Christmas cards. And Liv will have her annual Cookie Decorating Party this weekend. But I'm just holding out for next week when all of the holiday obligations are over and I can just enjoy some downtime before actual Christmas hits. On a positive note, I have so far avoided every Christmas party I've been invited to. It's my little rebellion. :)
