Gracie is SIX!

Go, go, go, go
Go, go, go shawty
It's your birthday
We gon' party like it's yo birthday
We gon' sip Bacardi - er, grape juice - like it's your birthday
And you know we don't give a ...
It's not your birthday!

Well, it might be your birthday...

But today in Chez Hopkins we are celebrating the resident six-year-old!

Yesterday Gracie woke up and the first thing she did was call out, "TODAY IS THE LAST DAY I'M FIVE!"

Today she woke up, saw her room full of balloons (balloons on the floor is our b-day tradition - nothing like waking up to a sea of rainbow balloons on your birthday!) and informed me that as she is now six, she will be nice to everyone, including her sister, every minute of every day.

Look at my little lady - amazingly mature in less than 24 hours. Six is a very grown-up age to be.

Gracie's school doesn't allow cupcakes to be brought in on birthdays, and though I was tempted to make them and bring them in anyway and say, "Ooops, I forgot that I can't bring cupcakes!" (like the other kindergarten mothers do - despite the many notes home saying don't bring in cupcakes!), I figured that since her teacher is our next door neighbor and I don't want to find any vengeful yard clipping dumped over the fence between our yards, I'll follow the rules.

(Not that I think she'd actually do that - she's a nice neighbor - but still.)

We opted for goodie bags instead and Gracie spent yesterday afternoon helping me stuff them full of balloons and blowers and twisty straws and candy.

I love goodie bags.

Happy happy b-day to my six-year-old. It's a little bit amazing to me that I've been blogging about this kiddo since she was two, and here she is, all grown up.

*sob!*

MY BABY! WHERE DID MY BABY GO AND WHO IS THIS GROWN UP IN HER PLACE!?

*deep breath*

Okay, whew. I just had to get that out.

xoxo,

That's wonderful! Cupcakes are overrated anyway. :)

Happy Birthday Gracie! How is it you didn't remind me it was coming up? I knew the big SIX was coming up but don't know why I didn't think it was until later in the summer. Sigh, they are getting so big. First grade next year...NUTS!

Aawww...six is so great!! I love how she matured too!! ;-)

We have a no cupcake policy too at the school I work with, but I always turn a blind eye whenever one of the parent's brings them in...it's a celebration and cupcakes are fabulous!! Goody bags are pretty cool too though!!

Happy Birthday! Hope you have a wonderful day together!
